Regno, usage of Sardinian adhesives 1861 (Nov 3): Cover from Lavagna to Buenos Ayres, Argentina, endorsed "Via di Inghilterra", bearing Sardinia IV. emission 80 c. 'giallo arancio chiaro' and 20 c. 'azzuro scurrisimo', two fine adhesives with good to large margins, some marginal toning spots just mentioned for accuarcy, tied by LAVAGNA cds (Sassone GE = 5 punti), information strike and oval "P.P." alongside. Obverse struck in addition by French "ITALIE LANSLEBOURG 6 NOV 61" entry cds and "LONDON PAID NO 7 61" transit cds, both in red. Reverse with Genova and Torino transit (Nov 3/4) cds's. Light horizontal file fold well away from the franking, a correctly paid single rate letter sent via France and Great Britain in the tariff of 1857. It seems that the letter was given by the British agent at the port of Buenos Ayres directly to the receiver, as no Argentinian due was added. An appealing cover full of postal history. Certs. E. Diena (1992), Colla (1993) Sassone = € 4'680.
