  • Lot# : 6151 France

1868: Napoléon laureated 20 c. milky blue Type II, the imperforated variety called 'Lebaudy', a fine and fresh example with good to large margins, tied by clear Convoyeur ligne 'P.LIL.' lozenge to entire letter. "GARE DE DOUAI 22 JUIL 69" despatch cds alongside. Extremely rare imperforated issue. Signed Calves Yvert = € 27'500 / Maury 29/IIg = € 26'000.rnNote: A small number of imperforated Napoléon lauré 20 c. in a milky blue shade were given by the postal administration to the Post Offices in the Department Nord and also to Nancy. Most of them served on a correspondence between the trading houses Bobillon in Douai and Lebaudy in Paris, respectively Valenciennes, thereby the name to this variety. Due to their shade they cannot be confused with the imperforate Rothschild issue.
