    1859: 1 gr. 'bruno oliva scuro' and 1 gr. 'bruno oliva', both from plate II, two fresh and fine examples with good to huge margins all round, tied by light strikes of 'ferro di cavallo' handstamp, indistinct "PALERMO PARTENZA .. GIU. 59" despatch cds alongside, on cover to Siracusa. Appealing shade combination to pay the 2 grana rate from office to office. Cert. E. Diena (1988).
