    1853 (Oct): 40 c. light rose in mixed issue franking with 1855 5 c. 'verde smeraldo scuro' in a horizontal pair, fresh adhesives with overall good to large margins, the 40 c. touched in the SE corner, light marginal precut in the NW corner, all well embossed, tied by light "ONEGLIA 8 AGO. 56" cds in black to small envelope to Brignolles, "P.D." handstamp and French "SARD. DRAGUIGNAN 10 AOUT 56" entry cds, both in red alongside. Reverse with "NIZZA MARTTa" transit (Aug 9) and arrival cds (Aug 11). Lightest vertical file fold just mentioned for accuracy, a very rare franking to pay the letter rate to France, also very attractive. Signed Grioni; certs. Fulpius (1951), E.
