    1870: Entire letter from Marseille to Constantinople, bearing Bordeaux 10 c. bistre report 2, two single adhesives in combination with 20 c. blue type III report 2, three fine and fresh adhesives in deep shades with large to enormous margins all round, tied by superb Gros Chiffres '2240' numeral lozenge and crisp despatch cds (Feb 20, 71). Reverse with arrival cds of the French P.O. in Constantinople (March 5). Light horizontal file fold well away from this delightful franking, an exceptional usage to pay the 40 centimes Levant rate which was in force up to the end of June 1871.
