    1862: Entire from La Rochelle to Philadelphia, endorsed "par Steamer partant de Liverpool le 16 Janvier", bearing Napoléon perf. 80 c. dark-rose, a fresh and fine example with good perforation, tied by clear Gros Chiffres '3174' numeral lozenge, matching superb "LA ROCHELLE (16) 13 JANV. 64" despatch cds and framed PD alongside. The adhesive was also struck by "PHILADELPHIA FEB 4 15" arrival cds in red. A delightful cover representing the correct 80 c. rate, sent to an unusual destination where the receiver had to pay 15 cents for the inland part of the journey.
