    1853: Double rate Entire letter from Paris to London, bearing Napoléon imperf. 40 c. orange and 80 c. carmine, two fresh examples with brilliant colours and and good to large margins, tied by 'Grille sans Fin' mute obliterator, despatch cds (May 12, 56) as well as framed "P.D." and British PAID datestamp (May 13 1856), both in red alongside. Reverse with French ambulant cds. The 80 c. adhesive with minute nick in the lower margin, horizontal file fold well away from the franking, nevertheless an appealing item, the franking paying correctly the second weight rate.rnProvenance: Corinphila sale 72 (Sept. 1985), lot 943.
