    1853: Entire letter written in Hamburg on February 25, 1861 and sent to Marseille, struck by "HAMBURG TH&T 25 2 1861" despatch cds, bearing the exceptional franking of Napoléon imperf. 20 c. blue Type II and 40 c. orange, two examples with fair to large margins,  the 40 c. touched at lower left, tied by 'Gros Points' mute obliterator, French "TOUR-T. VALENCIENNES 27 FEVR. 61" entry cds and framed "P.D.", both in red alongside. Reverse with Paris transit and Marseille arrival cds's (Feb. 28). Horizontal file fold well away from adhesives, an unusual but accepted pre-payment with French adhesives in Hamburg, the 60 c. rate reflecting the correct postage from France to Thurn & Taxis in 1861.
