1912 (Apr. 8): Early Scouts' postcard from St. Petersburg addressed to Chief Scout R. Baden Powell at '112 Victoria St. London' with imprint on address side: 'Uchenik Novichek, St. Petersburg Nevski 112, 2 R. 50 per year' (student news-journal) and on picture side with printed message in English: "On this day, the holiday of our Patron Saint George, we the Russian Boy-Scouts wish to convey kindly feelings of brotherly love and friendship towards the British Chief Scout and his followers." Fine and very early Russian Scouts' document.rnIn 1910 Baden-Powell visited Tsar Nicholas II in Tsarskoye Selo and in 1914 Colonel Oleg Pantyukhov established a society called Russkiy Skaut. Scouting spread rapidly across Russia and into Siberia, and by 1916, there were about 50,000 Scouts in Russia.
