    International Postal Connections to Europe - Italy 1866 (Dec 21): Cover from Constantinople to Genova endorsed "via Trieste col vapore Austriaco", franked with 1864 Arms 3 s. green and 15 s. brown, perf. 9½, tied by ornamental "CONSTANTINOPEL 21/12" cds in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 385) with "P.D." in red and small cartridge "PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / ITALIANI" alongside. Reverse with Brindisi transit and Genova arrival cds (Dec 28 1866). File fold away from adhesives and datestamps, a rare and attractive cover, illustrated and discussed in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 416 and in the Ferchenbauer handbook part IV on page 564. rnNote: After the Levant rate unification in 1866, only 10 soldi had to be paid to the Lloyd plus 8 soldi for Italy if the item was transfered in Corfu directly to an Italian vessel.
