    Competitors of the Austrian Lloyd - North German Confederation 1871 (Aug 1): Letter sheet from Schleiz to Trapezunt, Turkey franked with North German Confederation definitive 1869 1 gr. carmine perf. 13¾ x 14¼, a single and a horizontal pair, each tied by superb "SCHLEIZ 1 8 71 6-7 N" cds, reverse with oval TRIEST cds (Aug 4) transit datestamp. An interesting and attractive item. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 324.rnNote: The Triest transit datestamp shows that this cover was transported as a single item from Germany through Austria to the Levant, a procedure which was forbidden as such mail should have been bagged according to the 1870 regulations.
