    1841: 1 d. red-brown on blued paper, lettered GC, a used example with large margins all round, tied to 1842 cover from Preston to Stourbridge Ironworks, by smudged Maltese Cross struck in blue. Reverse with PRESTON double arc cds in blue and obverse with 'Stourbridge' arrival cds (March 22) in black. Rockoff & Jackson unrecorded but they list two examples from the same correspondence dated April and November 1842, for further information see pages 228-230. A rare cover Gi BS1sc = £ 1'700.
