    1660 (July 10): Domenico II Contarini (1585 – 1675) the 104th Doge of Venice, Vellum manuscript addressed to Bernardo Donati and Leonardo Zane Podesta and Capitaneo of Padova, written and signed by the official secretary. Fine and complete parchment document with official lead seal "DOMINICUS CONTARENO DEI GR(ATI)A D(UX) VENETIA (RUM) ET C(etera) with attached transcription on Cert. Bolaffi ( 2000). Contarini II reigned as Doge from 1659 until his death, whilst the Cretan War (1645–1669), an attempt to recapture Crete from the Ottoman Empire, had been ongoing another ten years.rn
