    1882: 1 d. rose, a single example used on 1885 Soldier's letter to Devonport from a Sergeant in the South Lancs. Regiment, tied by PINETOWN / NATAL cds (Oct 27) in black, signed by the Quartermaster at lower left. Reverse with Durban transit cds and Devonport arrival cds (Nov 24) in black. An attractive cover - the South Lancashire Regiment was only formed in 1881.
