    1917 (Jan 3): Cover addressed from Stuttgart to Buenos Aires endorsed "Unterseebootsbrief" with 20 pf. blue tied by Stuttgart cds in black. The cover was intended for the Submarine Service across the Atlantic but the service was suspended in January 1917 and the cover was struck with three line "Zurück" cachet in blue and 'Bremen 1 / T.B.' cds (Jan 15) and returned to sender with Stuttgart re-arrival cds above (Feb 23). Rare.
