    Recess by Narciso Desmadryl from Perkins Bacon Plates 1854 (Jan-Feb): 5 c. deep reddish-brown, a fine clear impression with clear to good margins all round, used on 1855 entire letter endorsed 'por Vapor' from Santiago to Bordeaux, France tied by target handstamp in black with SANTIAGO despatch cds alongside (Sept 29) in red. The 5 centavos paying the internal postage to Valparaiso, thence via PSNC Steamer to Panama with two line PANAMA / TRANSIT in red, reverse with London cds (Nov 14) and thence via Calais to Bordeaux. A charming and extremely scarce usage to an overseas destination. Signed Holcombe.
