Typographed by J.P. Borrius, Potchefstroom 1872 (Dec): 1 s. green on thinnish opaque paper, clear printing, rouletted 15½-16, in a bright shade, used on 1876 combination cover from Pretoria to Homburg, Frankfurt on Main, Germany tied by circular "1" numeral obliterator in black. Faint PRETORIA despatch datestamp at left with Cape of Good Hope 1864/76 1 d. carmine (3), 4 d. blue (2) and 1 s. green pair (Gi 29, 24, 26) all tied by "1" numeral obliterators in black with corresponding 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' cds (July 14) in black. '4½' (pence) manuscript credit in red crayon on front alongside 'London / Paid' cds and reverse with Homburg arrival cds (Aug 11). Cover #97 in the Jorgensen census, the Transvaal 1 s. removed and replaced for checking.
