    Vryburg (British Re-Occupation) 1900: Cape, Hope 1 d. rose-red, used on cover to Mowbray, near Cape Town, tied by VRYBURG / C.G.H. datestamp with manuscript "C.St.Q." in black ink in lieu of the date, the initials of the Military Intelligence Officer in charge of the Post Office, Clifford St. Quintin. A very rare surviving cover, all of the few recorded appear to be addressed in the same hand.rnrnNote: On the re-occupation of Vryburg, from an unknown source a small number of copies of the Cape ½ d. and 1 d. were discovered. These were used to frank correspondence and are found cancelled by a VRYBURG / C.G.H. datestamp with initials placed in lieu of date. See Robson Lowe Encyclopaedia, Africa, page 127.
