    1854: 1 s. blue, used example, touched but with large margins on two sides, tied to 1855 cover from Melbourne to Hamburg endorsed 'per Red Jacket' clipper by oval "1/V" obliterator in black. Reverse with 'Melbourne / Crown / Victoria' despatch datestamp (April 30) and scarce oval "Ship Letter / Crown / Liverpool" of transit (July 25) - an 85 day journey - and London and Hamburg datestamps. Rated '8' for ship letter and altered to 1 s. in manuscript on obverse, charged '19' schillinge due on receipt. Listed by Ben Palmer on page 109 of the Victoria pre-UPU census. File folds and somewhat tired but a very scarce destination at this date.
