    Telegraphs 1868: The wonderful imperforate group, with unused, without gum, irregular blocks / strips: 25c. rose in a block of 36 with one used with blue datestamp (Maury 1 = € 13'670), 50c. green in a superb corner block of 11 (Maury 2 = € 3'740), 1fr. orange in a strip of 11 (ten + one) and 2fr. violet both marginal from top of sheet (Maury 3 = € 14’300 and Maury 4 = € 14’300), with complete original and contemporary envelope explaining the reason for the multiples (the translation follows: “These stamps are very rare - all are definite authentication. They have been given to me about 1880 by Hericart de Thury, previous head of the Accounts Office of the Telegraph Administration, who received them formerly for giving specimens to foreign Administrations who had asked for them and who saved them from the pillage of the Siege and the Commune 1870-71 (Signature)”. An extraordinary set - as far as we are aware, the sole recorded examples of interpanneau strips of this issue, as the sheets were separated prior to being supplied to the Posts & Telegraph Offices.
