    1853 (July): 4 d. deep blue on lightly blued paper, a fine pair with large margins all round ands portion of adjoining stamp, used on 1856 cover to Mrs. W. Beresford in London, endorsed 'By First Ship, March 24, 1856' and at base, 'Major Douglas, 60th Rifles', the stamps lightly tied by CGH obliterator in black. Rated at 4 d. inland + 4 d. Port charge with '8' Ship Letter fee on arrival in manuscript. The reverse with GRAHAMSTOWN oval despatch in red (March 25), Cape Town cds (March 29) in red and London arrival in red (May 31). Much research with the lot has established the cover was carried on the 'Owen Glendower'. Some typical edge wear but a fine and scarce cover
