    1884/96: 'Stamp Duty' issues, the range of unused, all overprinted "Specimen." in italics (i) or, less frequently as much scarcer, with SPECIMEN diagonally struck in black in capital letters (c), showing 1 d. blue-green (i), 1 d. ochre (i), 5 s. claret (four examples two with italic, two with differing types of diagonal SPECIMEN), £ 1 red-orange (i) in blue (Gi 262a), 1 s. 6 d. pink (both types), 3 s. drab (both types), 4 s. red-orange (both types), 6 s. pea-green (i), 10 s. green (i, in blue), 15 s. purple-brown (i, in blue), 1886 £ 25 green with "Specimen" struck twice in talics, 1884 2 s. 6 d. (4) with two optd. in italics and two examples in capital letters; 1885 8 d. rose (i and c), 1 s. blue (c) with two examples, 2 s. olive (3, i and c), 3 d. yellowish (3, i and c), 4 d. magenta (c), 6 d. blue (c), 8 d. scarlet (i), 1885 3 d. yellow-orange (c), 1886 issue with values to 1 s. 6 d. with 34 stamps showing a variety of differing Specimen overprints. A remarkable and very scarce range in much above average quality (73 items).
