    Ballon Monté No. 11 1870 (Oct 12): Entire letter to St. Foy la Grande, Gironde endorsed 'Par Ballon Monté', franked by 1863/67 20 c. blue, tied by Paris Star 1 with 'Paris / Pl. de la Bourse' cds (Oct 12, 6th levée) alongside. Flown from beseiged Paris on the Ballon "Godefroy Cavignac" with St. Foy La Grande cds (Oct 18) of arrival on reverse. Content "We are still without news from outside of town...do not complain of the brevity of my letter, the less the weight the better chance they have to be mailed and to arrive at their destination".
