    Russia 1853: 80 c. carmine, just clear to large margins all round, used on 1858 entire letter to Dorpat, Russia (now Estonia) tied by 1896 petit chiffres of Marseilles on despatch (Dec 10). Underpaid for the single rate of 1 franc 10 centimes, and struck with framed AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in red and hexagonal framed 'F. / 33' Convention marking in black (Salles fig. 1371, van der Linden fig. 1168) applied in Paris. Manuscript '5/3' Prussian credit at left and 'par Riga' in address deleted with manuscript 'Sagnitz frey' applied over the 'Affranchisement' marking. An unusual and extremely interesting entire.

    Note: From August 1, 1858 the rate via Prussia to Russia was 1 franc 10 centimes for under 10 grams.
