    India 1849/50: Cérès 1 fr. carmine, a fine large margined example in a rich shade, used on 1852 entire letter at single rate by British ship from Pau to Capt. Anderson of the 22nd Regiment at Rawalpindi, endorsed 'via Marseille and Bombay' tied by 2388 petit chiffres with Pau despatch cds at left (June 24). Reverse with Toulouse and Marseille datestamps (June 25) and front with 'BOMBAY / JULY 23 1852 / STR. POSTAGE '8' / INLD DO '15' with rates to pay inserted in manuscript. A splendid and rare cover in the foremost quality. Signed Calves. Cert. Von der Weid (1997).
