    1955: Registered airmail cover from Cairo addressed to Ernest Kehr in New York, franked by 1953/56 50 m. dull purple, 500 m. violet, 1953 Bar overprinted £ 1 sepia & blue, Airmail 100 m. olive (3) and 1955 APU 5 m. yellow-brown all tied by Cairo datestamps in black. US Customs oval cachet (Feb 3) and 'Jamaica / NY' in violet (Feb 4). Minor opening faults to envelope due to size (252 x 172 mm.) but an exceedingly rare commercial usage of the £ 1 value on cover.
