    1853: 80 c. carmine, a wonderful horizontal strip of six, with ample to large margins all round, one stamp contemporarily creased on application, used on 1861 cover to Vera Cruz, Mexico (paying 6 times rate via England) endorsed 'par le Steamer anglais de Southampton, dèpart du 2 Mars' at top, all neatly tied by 1808 petit chiffres with 'Dax' cds of despatch below (Feb 26). Framed 'P.P.' in red and London transit cds (Feb 28) in red and charged with handstruck '5' (reales) due marking on receipt (five times rate at 10 grams). A spectacular and extremely rare franking.     80 c. carmin en bande horiz. de six (timbre de droite avec pli à l'application) oblit. petits chiffres 1081 sur lettre de Dax (26 févr.61) pour Veracruz par la voie d'Angleterre. Affranchissement rare et spectaculaire.
