    1872: Cover from Alexandria to Dijon franked by 1867 40 c. orange and 80 c. rose, tied by '5080' gros chiffres, carried by British Steamer and struck with 'Pos. Angl. / Alexandrie' cds at left (Oct 2) on despatch, thence via the 'quick route' to Brindisi and the Mont Cenis Tunnel, struck with 'PAq. Ang. V. Brind / A Mod' applied at Modane (Oct 7). A scarce fast but costly service and thus an unusual rate.
