1765: Entire letter from St. Petersburg (November 4) addressed to Bordeaux, France, struck with straight line "ST. PETERSBOVRG" despatch handstamp (42 x 2.5 mm.) in black (Dobin 0.01a) - the first year of usage of this rare cancellation. Curved "MASEYCK" transit in black and charged on arrival (Nov 18) at 36 décimes due to pay; the letter docketed as replied on 11 January 1766. A remarkable entire showing the first postmark of Russia - one of the great rarities of classic Russian Postal History. Cert. 1867 (23 July): Cover from St. Petersburg via London to Calcutta, India, bearing 1866 pair 1 kop. black & yellow and one pair and two single examples of 10 kop. brown & blue on horizontally laid paper perf 14½ : 15, tied by "ST PETERSBURG WARSAW TRAIN STATION" despatch cds, two stamps struck in addition by "LONDON PAID" (3 Aug) transit cds in red, Prussian framed "P.D." handstamp and "AUS RUSSLAND" transit cds, both in red alongside, nine silbergroschen credit noted in red crayon, reverse with BOMBAY (SP 10) transit and CALCUTTA (15 SEPR) arrival cds's in red. Charged '1d' handstruck on delivery. 1900 (Sept 23): Registered quintuple rate cover from the consulate of the United States in Batum to St. Petersburg bearing a strip of six Arms 7 kop. blue adhesives on horizontally laid paper, tied by "BATUM - ODESSA" type 2 Shipmail cds with matching provisional 1899 type "PAROKHOD ODESSA - BAT." registration label at left, in manuscript corrected for the opposite travelling direction. Reverse with BATUM-ODESSA despatch cds of the following day and ST. PETERSBURG arrival cds in pink and distribution cds of the 7th city P.O. (Sept 27). Nikolajevsk-Amur Territory, 1921: 10 kop overprinted on imperforate Imperial Arms definitive 3 kop., one unused example in sealed glassine bag with authentification from the French consul in Vladivostok dated 4 12 22. In addition CTO cover with this stamp struck by four different cancellations incl. "SYEVERNYE UYEZDY PAROKHOD". 1841/1902: Group of thirty covers and twenty postcards relating to Russia, including 1841 stampless letter from Odessa to Livorno with DDSG cancellation Danube River; 1875 cover from Moscow to Constantinople via Odessa with blue 'ROPIT' arrival mark; also 1902 cover to Thessaloniki with strip of five 1 l. stamps with arrival 'ROPIT THESSALONIKI' in violet.
