    Hungarian Post Offices in Romania 1867/69: Lot 39 used stamps & multiples as well as pieces incl. also rarer adhesives / combinations such as the 2 kr. yellow, block of four of the 15 kr. brown, two pieces with pair 15 kr. brown and 10 kr. blue, the adhesives cancelled / tied in the P.O.'s of FOKSCHAN, BUKAREST/ BUCAREST, also with "BUKAREST RECOMMANDIRT", and GALATZ. The group includes also some faked postmarks described as such as well as some unused examples. A fine, rare and interesting group from this short period, the balance of the Dr. Geza Homonnay collection.

    Hungarian Post Offices in Romania 1867/69: Lot ten covers incl. three covers with pairs or two examples of the 5 kr. red to pay the reduced rate from Temesvar to Ibraila or Bucharest, respectively; four covers with the 10 kr. rate in the opposite direction from Bucharest to Vienna, an unpaid cover from Bucharest to the Hungarian part of the monarchy, where the receiver had to pay 10 kr. postage plus 5 kr. zutaxe; two covers with 3 + 15 kr. in the so called Lloyd rate to Italy. Also two telegram formulars of the P.O. in Bucharest and two DDSG receipts from the office in Ibraila, and few stationery envelopes. An interesting group from this short period, the balance of the Dr. Geza Homonnay collection.

    Asia Minor 1869 (March 11): Cover from the Dardanelles to Trieste, showing internal docketing by the recipient "Dardanelli 11 Marzo 1869", bearing a combination franking of 1864 Arms 2 s. yellow perf. 9½, a well embossed strip of three and 1867 Coarse whiskers 10 s. blue, fresh and fine examples with good perforation, tied by indistinct "IN DEN DARDANELLEN 12 / 3" cds (Tranmer fig. 4) in black, reverse with oval TRIEST arrival datestamp (March 19). The spectacular franking including the 2 soldi adhesive overpays the 15 soldi Lloyd rate by one soldo, a horizontal file fold well away from the franking was internally stabilized, the address partially redrawn, nevertheless an exceptional cover from the very rare postal office. Glarus, Switzerland, bearing 1867 fine whiskers 10 s. blue, a fresh and fine pair, tied by a single clear strike of "LETTERE ARRIVATE / PER MARE / VARNA / 1 / 5 / 75" datestamp in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 115), "P.D." handstamp in black alongside. Reverse with Swiss St. Gallen - Sargans T.P.O. and NETTSTAL arrival (May 6) cds's. Minor toning, nevertheless an attractive item.

    Constantinople, Austrian consular P.O. in Constantinople 1869 (June 18): Cover from Constantinople to Marseille, endorsed "Voi Varna", bearing 1864 15 so. brown perf. 9½ in combination with 1867 coarse whiskers 25 s. grey, two overall fine and fresh single examples, tied by clear wreathed CONSTANTINOPEL cds in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 385). "A. / P.D." postal treaty handstamp in red and French entry cds in blue (June 24, 69) alongside. Reverse with WIEN transit and two indistinct French cds's. An attractive franking to pay correctly the 40 soldi rate to France with 15 s. for the Levant & Austria and 25 s. for France, a very rare combination. Signed Avanzo; cert.     Austrian consular P.O. in Constantinople 1875 (May 21): Cover from Constantinople to Livorno, marked as double rate with blue crayon, bearing 1867 coarse whiskers 25 s. brownish violet, a fine and fresh horizontal strip of three, tied by "CONSTANTINOPEL 21 / 5 / 75" cds in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 389). "P.D." handstamp in black alongside, reverse with BRINDISI transit and LIVORNO arrival (May 28) cds's. Horizontal and vertical file folds well away from the franking, nevertheless an exceptionally rare usage of this multiple. Cert. E. Diena (1980) Ferchenbauer = € 6'500. Lot includes 1867 pair 5 s. red and 1878 fine whiskers 3 s. green two strips of three on piece, cancelled with this consular cds.rnNote: Franked although not endorsed for a triple rate cover sent via Varna & Vienna to Italy with three times 10 soldi for the Levant and three times 15 soldi for Italy. Transported with the next steamer via Brindisi, presumably only in the second rate, which would had to be franked with twice 15 soldi for the Lloyd and twice 8 soldi for Italy.     1867/1909: Selection nine covers incl. Chios consular P.O., Mytilene Lloyd P.O. to Athens with combination franking, Smyrna consular P.O., two covers to Genova and Switzerland, 1867c Ruschuk to Vienna, 1871 from Constantinople via Varna to Manchester with large "LETTERE ARRIVATE / PER MARE / VARNA / 19 / 7 / 71" datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 115), 1881 Canea to Trieste, 1882 Jerusalem to Mocenigo di Rumo, and 1880 Beirut to Glarus. In addition a used example of 1907 Austrian Levant 30 pa. violet cancelled by part strike of "(Agenzia / del LLOYD) AUSTRIACO / .... 1909 (SAJADA) Epiro" in purple (Tchilinghirian fig. 521), an elusive cancellation from this small village, a major rarity of the Austrian Lloyd.

    Holyland and Constantinople 1834/1910: Group of covers/cards (8) with Disinfected entire letter from Constantinople to Versoix, Geneva, Switzerland, disinfected in transit with part red wax seal and two line "Geräuchert von Contumaz-Amte / SEMLIN, 1881 cover to Kidderminster franked by 1867/74 10 s. blue tied by fine "JERUSALEM / GERUSALEMME" cds (Tchilinghirian fig. H) via Modane, 1899 cards (2) used to Germany each with "BETHLÉEM" cachets in red, each with 10 pa. or 20 pa. adhesives cancelled in Jerusalem (fig. K) in red on Christmas Day; 1908 5 pa. green stationery envelope cancelled by "JERUSALEM / ÖSTERR. POST" code b cds in black (fig. M) and 1908 10 c. used on 1913 postcard tied by "JAFFA / ÖSTERR. POST" cds with scarce "AUS JERUSALEM / ÖSTERR. POST" handstamp alongside and two further covers from Constantinople with better frankings, one with certificate Ferchenbauer. A scarce group.
