1870 (March 20): Cover from Warsaw to Lyon bearing a mixed franking of 1865 10 kop. brown & blue in combination with 1866 1 kop. yellow & black (2), 3 kop. green & black with the wrong 'V' background (2), and 5 kop. in the rare shade grey-blue & black (2), all on horizontally laid paper, seven fine and fresh examples, tied by 1' square numeral of Warsaw, with matching WARSZAWA despatch, "P.D." and FRANCO handstamps, all in an oily red alongside. Obverse struck in addition by Prussian transit cds in red and French "PRUSSE ERQUELINES" cds in blue, reverse with another WARSZAWA cds, a French ambulant and Lyon arrival (March 23) cds's. On obverse a '5½' (silbergroschen) credit to France was noted in red crayon. Horizontal file fold well away from the amazing four-colour franking, nevertheless a most interesting and attractive usage, presumably a unique combination including the two errors, cert. 1875 (March 14): Envelope from St. Petersburg to Landquart, Switzerland bearing 1866 1 kop. yellow & black, 3 kop. green & black, and 10 kop. brown & blue, all on horizontally laid paper, three fine and fresh examples, tied by "S. PETERBURG" despatch cds, reverse with another St. Petersburg cds, a ZÜRICH transit and LANDQUART arrival (March 30, georgian) cds's. Tear in backflap, nevertheless a most attractive cover, cert. 1872 (Sept 4): Cover from Odessa to Marseille bearing 1866 1 kop. yellow & black and 20 kop. blue & orange, both on vertically laid paper, and 3 kop. green & black on horizontally laid paper , three fine and fresh examples, tied by ODESSA despatch cds, with oval FRANKIROVANO in violet, "A. / P.D.", and French entry cds (Sept 21) in blue alongside, reverse with PARIS transit and MARSEILLE arrival (Sept 22, georgian) cds's. 1877 (Aug 1): Double rate registered envelope from Glazov to Vyatka bearing 1866 30 kop. rose & green as well as 1 kop. yellow & black on horizontally laid paper, two fine and fresh examples, tied by GLAZOV despatch cds. 1870 (May 19): Cover from St. Petersburg to London bearing 1866 20 kop. blue & orange on vertically laid paper in combination with two single examples of 3 kop. green & black on horizontally laid paper showing variety: wrong backgound 'V', three fine and fresh examples, tied by bold "SPB" handstamp, "S. PETERBURG" despatch and SPB - Warsaw station cds's on reverse. Obverse struck by framed "P.D.", Prussian "AUS RUSSLAND" entry cds and LONDON arrival (June 3, georgian) cds, all in red. A most interesting combination of both papers on an attractive cover.

1872 (April 4): Cover from Warsaw to Lvov, Galicia bearing 1866 10 kop. blue & brown on vertically laid paper, a fine and fresh example, tied by WARSZAWA despatch with framed FRANCO and "RUSSIE." handstamps alongside, reverse with LEMBERG arrival (April 17, georgian) cds. 1858/76: Selection 19 entires / cover sent within Russia incl. two single rate covers bearing 1858 10 kop. brown & blue perf. 14½ : 15, eight covers with 1858 (Sept) 10 kop. brown & blue perf. 12½, the adhesives tied by dotted numerals as well as cds's, also a double rate cover with 1858 (Sept) 20 kop. blue & orange and a triple rate cover with 30 kop. rose & green, later issue frankings with 1865 10 kop. used within Poland, also 1866 single frankings primarily on horizontally laid paper with 1 kop. dark yellow on local Riga printed matter, 3 kop. green on 1876 formular postcard within Kiev, 5 kop. lilac on local St. Petersburg cover and pair on cover to Warsaw, 5 kop. in the rare grey shade overfranking an 1874 formular postcard from Polotsk to SPB, and finally 5 kop. violet on vertically laid paper on local SPB envelope. 1868/75: Selection 16 pre-UPU entires / covers directed abroad bearing a wealth of different frankings incl. eleven covers with two- or three-colour frankings, with shade and cancellation interest, including 1868 combination cover of the 1865 & 1866 issue, 1872 printed matter SPB to Berlin, covers to Prussia (2), German Empire, Great Britain (4), Netherlands, Italy (4), Switzerland, and France incl. three single frankings of the 1866 20 kop. on verticallly laid paper. The lot includes also four covers with UPU usages from Dunajevtsy to Switzerland, Port Arthur via Hongkong to the well-known Salzmann address in Bern, registered SPB stationery to Nürnberg and registered Constantinople to Smyrne. St. Petersburg City Post 1864 (Aug 19): Cover within St. Petersburg, bearing 1863 (Aug) City Post stamp 5 kop. black & blue, a fine and fresh example, tied by part strike of neat "KONTORA LYUBAVICH" merchant's cachet in black as well as by a central strike of "S. PETERBURG / 4th city P.O." despatch cds in red. Reverse with another information strike of the despatching office. A most attractive usage from the first period of 1863-1864, when the city post stamps could be used only locally within St. Petersburg or Moscow. Cert. 1858: Arms 12 ö. blue & 24 ö. dull orange, two fine and fresh example in a vivid deep shade on 1872 cover from Stockholm to London, endorsed "via Gothenburg", tied by clear STOCKHOLM despatch (April 4) cds in black, with framed FRANCO in black and LONDON arrival (April 8) cds in red alongside, reverse with Shipmail cds. 1877-79: Circle type, pair 4 ö. grey & 12 ö. blue, fine and fresh adhesives on 1882 cover from Skedvi to South Pueblo, Colorado USA, tied by clear SKEDVI despatch (June 24) cds in black, reverse with Shipmail cds and "NEW YORK" transit (July 10) datestamp. Some edge wear, nevertheless an unusual franking to pay the 20 öre rate to the United States, in addition and exotic destination.
