1852/57: Cartier 10 d. blue, an imperforate example on thick hard paper in a pale shade, just clear at upper right otherwise with good margins all round, an engraved Proof impression with some doubling of the design with the oval lightly repeated across the vignette; the reverse showing further blueing on the paper and what appears to be a fingerprint. 1859: 12½ c. pale yellow-green, a single example used on 1865 cover from Montreal to England tied by black grid obliterator, carried on Allan Line steamer "Damascus" departing Quebec on Nov 11. Redirected upon arrival in London to Enniskillen, Northern Ireland with 1865/79 1 d. red pl. 81 tied by London SW/28 duplex (Nov 24) with circular "Misdirected / West District / A" handstamp in red adjacent. 1859: 12½ c. blue-green, a vertical strip of three in a rich deep shade, positions 49/59/69, used on 1864 cover to Galway, Ireland endorsed "By Canadian Mail", tied by blue grid cancels with "STREETSVILLE / C.W." despatch cds in blue at left (Aug 16). Carried on the Allan Line steamer "Hibernian" and, on arrival in Galway (Aug 31) forwarded on to Derry with 1864/79 1 d. red pl. 72, four examples for 2 ounce rate, all tied bx Galway "232" numeral obliterators. On arrival the clerk realised original rate was underpaid and struck the cover with "9" (pence) due marking in black, this deleted in red crayon and altered to "1/-" in manuscript.
