Reverse with British P.O. TAMPICO datestamp (May 2) in red, thence via RMSP "Solent" to St. Thomas and "Panama" to Southampton. Struck in London with "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking and charged at double rate with handstruck '16' décimes due mark on arrival File fold at top but a rare cover. Signed Todd AIEP.

British P.O. VERA CRUZ cds on reverse (April 4) in black and London transit in red (May 2) where "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking applied. Originally rated '8' décimes due on arrival in black (for a single letter under 7½ grams), altered to '12' décimes due possibly erroneously by a clerk believing the adhesive to be American. Carried by French ship with fine "MEXICO" Consular octagonal cachet (April 14) in blue at left (Salles fig. 1361) and carried on the "Floride". British P.O. VERA CRUZ cds on reverse (Dec 3) in black and London transit in red (Dec 31) where "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking applied. Manuscript at left '16' oz. weight and charged with handstruck '24' décimes due marking in black for triple rate (above 15 grams). Some minor edge wear but a fine and very scarce entire: the 4 reales is a rare stamp on letters used to overseas destinations. Signed Todd AIEP.

AM / HAVRE" in red (July 21) and charged '24' décimes handstruck in black to pay equivalent to a triple rate. File fold above the adhesives but an extraordinary and very rare cover. Taxed as single rate letter on arrival with '8' décimes due on delivery (Nov 30). Second cover with Fourth period Eagle 4 r. green (193-1865), large margins all round, used on 1865 cover tied by "FRANCO / MEXICO" cds in black (Nov 27), mailed by British ship to London (Dec 30) where "GB / 1F. 60c." accountancy marking applied in black - however no Calais transit or charge was seemingly raised on arrival (Jan 1, 1866) - possibly due to a New Year celebration or the introduction of the new rate (1 franc for 10 grams) on that day. TRANSIT" cds (March 12) in black and London (March 25) where struck with framed "GB / 3F 60c." accountancy applied in black with US '5' cents credit mark at right. Charged '15' décimes due upon receipt (March 26). Slight repair to tear at side of envelope but a most attractive and scarce usage.

Minor scuffs but an attractive pair.

    Porte De Mar 1874/80: Queretaro District 25 c. blue 35-78 used on obverse of 1877 cover to Toulouse tied by oval "FRANCO EN / QUERETARO" handstamp in black with datestamp in green at right (Dec 26) paying the internal fee, reverse franked by Porte De Mar 10 c. black, sheet marginal example, also tied by oval "FRANCO EN / QUERETARO" handstamp paying the Port Fee. Carried via London (Jan 28, 1878) and struck on arrival with '17' décimes charge marking over "T / 1-70" in blue applied in London. The Porte de Mar 10 c. with toning around the edges of the adhesive, but an issue seldom found clearly tied to a cover. Noted next to adhesive '40' as amount underpaid and further in blue crayon the double rate with '2' in manuscript and marked '80c.' in same hand. Franked on arrival with Postage Due 1859/78 lithographed 60 c. blue imperforate with good margins overlapped by 1882 20 c. black tied by saw-tooth triangular handstamp.
