    1800c.: Incoming cover fronts (2) from Spain, each endorsed "Por el Rey" at top, each addressed to 'Al Governor y Commandante del Reyno de Chile' in Santiago with oval framed Official cachets in black, one struck with small condensed "ESPÑA." in black (applied in transit in Buenos Aires), the other with larger condensed "ESPÑA" handstamp in red. Slight wear but a rare pair.

    1918 (May 27): Prisoner of War concessionary rate cover to the German 'Hilfsverein' in Stockholm, endorsed 'Tasefrei' and mailed with 'Talcahuano' cds in black. Reverse with name of P.O.W. Seaman Paul Flaiter of the 'SMS Dresden' (scuttled off Robinson Crusoe Island in 1915). Reseal British "OPENED BY / CENSOR/ P.W. 674" on reverse (run by female staff only in London) with Stockholm arrival (Aug 8) above. Scarce and fine.

    1919: Prisoner of War concessionary rate printed cover to the German 'Hilfsverein' in Stockholm, with signature of sender at left (Adjutant Otto Bitter, a Prisoner of War from the 'SMS Dresden', scuttled off Robinson Crusoe Island in 1915), with 'Talcahuano' cds (May 16) and "Prisoner of War" handstamp in blue alongside. Reverse with Valparaiso transit cds and Stockholm arrival (July 29). Uncensored as the War was over, however Germany was bankrupt and the British had to pay for the prisoner's transport (hence they were still in Chile). A fine and scarce cover.

    1875: France Cérès 1871/75 25 c. blue pair and single 80 c. carmine used on underpaid cover to Santiago de Chile (carried on the 'Martinique') endorsed 'voie de Panama' tied by '1862' gros chiffres of Jarnac (Dec 18); struck on arrival over red 'P.P.' by oval "VALPARAISO / 10c / MULTADA" cachet in red. Reverse with Valparaiso arrival cds (Feb 15, 1876) in black. French rate correct for under 10 grams, the 10 c. due was for local delivery. An attractive cover.
