SANTIAGO cds of despatch in red at right (Feb 21). Whilst the official tariff has no 15 centavos rate, this was utilised in the early years of adhesive issues for letters weighing just over ½ ounce.     Third London print 1861/62: 10 c. bright blue on lightly blued paper, wmk. 3, a used horizontal strip of six, large margins on three sides and just touched at right, cut in margin only between second and third stamps, all cancelled by circular segmented cork handstamps in black - extremely rare, this handstamp only used for a short period in Talca. Rare and wonderful.

    Third London print 1861/62: 10 c. bright blue on lightly blued paper, a used example with touched to large margins, used on 1865 cover from Puerto del Huasco to Serena endorsed "Correo de Tierra", tied by light target cancellation on despatch with "PUERTO DEL HUASCO" datestamp in red at left (April 28) and rare usage of framed "FRANCA" in blue applied in transit with corresponding "FREIRINA" datestamp below (May 3). Minor faults as described but very rare.

    Third London print 1861/62: 10 c. bright blue on lightly blued paper, a used horizontal strip of six (positions 133-138), marginal from left of sheet with margins at top and at right, shaved at base, all tied to 1861 entire letter to Lima, Peru by "INUTIL" obliterators in black. "Valparaiso" despatch cds in red below (Sept 27). An outstanding usage of the issue - earlier than the Stanley Gibbons date of issue (Oct 1861) by three days. Rare.
