    1852 (Nov 22): Lettersheet from Milano to Bologna, franked by 1850 Carta a mano 15 c. red type III and 30 c. reddish brown type I on ribbed paper 'carta a coste verticali', two fresh and fine adhesives with large to enormous margins and vivid colours, each stamp tied by clear framed one line "MILANO : 22 - 11 : 52" datestamp with AFFRANCATA handstamp in black and "DOPO LA PARTENZA" in red alongside, reverse with Bologna arrival cds (Nov 24). A most attractive cover directed to the Cardinal Carlo Oppizzoni in Bologna, correctly franked with 45 c. in the third rayon and the second month of the Austro-Papal postal convention which became effective on October 1st, 1852.     1850: Ladies Envelope with honorific address and nobility wax seal from Firenze to Korompa, Hungary, franked by Carta a mano 45 c. light blue type I, fresh colour and good to large margins, tied by "F. POST. II" Fieldpost handstamp (Sassone R3 = € 37'500 / Müller 322a = 680 points), reverse with fair "MANTOVA 15. LUG." transit and "TIRNAU 2. / 7" arrival cds in blue. An extremely rare usage of this Fieldpost cancellation during the Austrian occupation of the Italian States in the years 1849-1854. Receiver is Comtesse Henrietta de Chotek-Brunsvik (1789-1857) at her residency in Korompa in Upper Hungary, nowadays Slovakia. Signed Colla; cert.     Second Italian War of Independence 1859 (April 17): Registered Fieldpost Envelope from Ancona to Erlau, Hungary, franked on obverse by Carta a macchina 45 c. blue type III, on reverse by 30 c. brown type III, two fresh and fine adhesives with good to large margins, both tied by very rare superb "I.R. POSTA MILIT. in I. No 2 17 / 4" Fieldpost handstamp (Sassone 13 punti = € 12'000 / Müller 326a = 240 points). Obverse with "RACCOM." handstamp aside the adhesive, reverse with Triest and Pesth transit as well as "ERLAU 24 / 4" arrival cds in black. Cover opened up for display, some minor toning, not distracting at all from the attractiveness of this extraordinarily rare registered Fieldpost usage during the Austro-Sardinian War in 1859. Signed Colla; cert.     Croce di S. Andrea 1852 (Dec. 9): Carta a mano 10 c. black type Ia with complete St. Andrew's Cross on amazing sheet margin below the stamp (34 mm), this adhesive with fresh colour and large even margins all round in combination with Carta a mano 5 c. orange type Ia, another fine and fresh example. Both adhesives tied by superb strikes of framed one line "MILANO: 9 - 12 : 52" datestamp on entire letter to Varese, reverse with arrival datestamp of the next day. The 10 centesimi adhesive with horizontal file fold below, slightly ironed out with nearly no impact on the overlying stamp; also minor pre-use thin on reverse of sheet margin below the Cross, just mentioned for accuracy, without any importance for this item presenting the only 10 c. with St. Andrew's Cross below on cover. A unique and extremely desirable cover for a high-end collection of Lombardo-Veneto or the Old Italian States. Signed Giorgio Colla; group cert. This is the only multiple known to the describer with mixed types and St. Andrew's Crosses adjacent, an item of utmost rarity and attractiveness, a magnificent piece for a very advanced collection of Lombardo-Veneto or the Italian States.
