Cuthbert Brothers / St George's Caye Service 1895: Cover from St. George's Cay to Belize bearing imperforate Type-written violet on white laid paper "Caye / Service / 3 cents" (R.L. 43) tied by "CUTHBERT BROS." handstamp with "SEP 9 1895" both in faded mauve ink. Minor creases to stamp and letter but nevertheless one of the finest examples recorded. The Cuthbert Brothers' Steam Yacht sailed daily to Belize but locals abused the service, handing letters to the Captain for mailing in Belize without any payment. Cuthbert considered printing a stamp but was alarmed by the cost and produced the adhesive seen on this cover which is type-written on thick white paper. A rarity on letter with just 8 recorded usages on front or cover.
