    1850 (Jan): Sydney View 1 d. reddish rose, plate I, pos. 7, a fine adhesive with clear to large margins, neatly  tied by '44' numeral obliterator of Yass to local cover. Reverse with oval Crown "YASS JA 2 1850 NEW S. WALES" datestamp with the '0' in the year slug altered by hand  to a '1'. Some patina on obverse, nevertheless an attractive stamp and cancellation on a very interesting local cover. Cert. Holcombe (1989).

    1850 (Jan): Sydney View 2 d. grey-blue, plate I, pos. 6, an early impression, a fine adhesive with clear to large margins, lightly tied by '90' numeral obliterator of Grafton to complete Entire letter to Sydney, dated inside "Sea Tree Creek Station, Clarence River 19th Feby 1850". Reverse with oval Crown datestamps of GRAFTON (FE 27 1850) and matching arrival  datestamp of SYDNEY (MR 26 1850). Some edge wear, but a fine entire with interesting content. Cert. Holcombe (1995). rnNote: The letter begins with "It is my painful duty to inform you that jamet (my wife) got a severe beating on the back of the neck from two blackfellows (aboriginess) on Saturday forenoon."

    1850 (Jan): Sydney View 2 d. dull blue, plate I, in a late impression with the clouds mostly gone, a superb top marginal adhesive with large to enormous margins, neatly tied by Sydney mute obliterator to part Entire letter with invoice of the Agent's Office of the 'Church and School Estates' to Braidwood. Reverse with Crown "SYDNEY FE 8 1850" cds. An impressive adhesive on a fine cover. Signed Avanzo.

    1851 (Apr): Sydney View 2 d. deep dull blue on hard greyish wove paper, plate V, a large margined adhesive in a resonant shade, tied by Sydney mute obliterator to 1851 OHMS double rate local cover to Wooloomooloo, with framed "6 / O CLOCK" handstamp in black alongside. Reverse with Crown Sydney NSW datestamp in black (JY 7 1851). File folds not affecting the appearance of this interesting cover.rnProvenance: Collection Dale Forster, DF sale (May 2002).

    1850 (Jan): Sydney View 3 d. yellow-green on soft yellowish wove paper, a fine adhesive with clear to large margins, neatly tied by Sydney mute obliterator to envelope to Merriwa, with indistinct Newcastle datestamp alongside. Reverse with oval Crown transit datestamp of MAITLAND (NO 3 1850). Some edge wear, but a fine entire with interesting content. Opinion Holcombe (1996).

    1850 (Jan): Sydney View 3 d. yellow-green on soft yellowish wove paper, an adhesive with fair to large margins, neatly tied by Sydney mute obliterator to cover to London, endorsed for the vessel "Earl Grey", with Crown Paid New South Wales datestamp in red (Oct 31, 1850) alongside. Forwarded within London and charged with '8' (pence) for Ship fee upon arrival. Reverse with arrival cds (March 31, 1851) in red. Light horizontal and vertical filig folds well away from stamp and postmarks, nevertheless a scarce and attractive item. Cert. Holcombe (1989).

    1851/55: Laureated 2 d. chalky blue on thick yellowish wove paper, plate I, a fine and fresh adhesive with vivid colour and clear to large margins from the base margin, tied by '48' numeral obliterator of Tarcuta to cover sent to Albury. Reverse with Crown despatch "TARCUTA NSW MR 5 1852" datestamp in black and arrival datestamp of Albury from the next day. A very attractive cover.

    1854 (Jan-March): Laureated 2 d. chalky blue on yellowish wove paper with double-lined watermark figures, plate III, a horizontal pair with vivid colour and good to huge margins, cancelled by '95' numeral obliterator of Brisbane (Queensland) to 1855 cover to Sydney, endorsed for the vessel "Boomerang". Reverse with Brisbane despatch cds (Oct 10 1855) and Sydney NSW arrival (Oct 15) cds's in black. A very interesting double rate cover.rnProvenance: Collection Dale Forster, DF sale (May 2002).

    1854/59: Garter 6 d. bluish grey with double-lined watermark figures, a fine adhesive with vivid colour and regular large margins all round, cancelled by Sydney mute obliterator in black to 1857 cover to Chipping-Norton, Oxfordshire, endorsed for the vessel "Columbian". Central strike of London Paid in red (June 12, 1857). Reverse with Sydney NSW despatch (Apr 9, 1857) in black and Chipping Norton arrival (June 12, 1857) cds's in blue. Fourth contract voyage of the European & Australian Royal mail Company at the direct 6 d. rate.

    1860/72: Diadem 1 s. rose-carmine perf. 13, a fine adhesive tied by duplex "NSW SYDNEY AP 22 1868" datestamp in black to envelope to Rome, indistinct French entry cds in red alongside. Reverse with Alexandria and Lyon transit cds's as well as Roma arrival (June 15, 1868) cds's, all in black. Charged upon arrival.     1860/72: Garter 6 d. violet perf. 13, a fine adhesive tied by two strikes of duplex "NSW SYDNEY NO 4 1870" datestamp in black to envelope to Newport, Shropshire, endorsed "Per R.M.S. Malta via Southampton". Reverse with Newport arrival (Jan 2, 1871) cds in black. A fine and interesting cover mailed per the P&O Steam Navigation Company.rnNote: Due to the Franco-Prussian war, this was the last journey with the option of travelling via Southampton or Marseilles, therefater Brindisi was used as the port of call.
