    1653 (May 27): Doge Francesco Cornaro or Corner (1585 – 1656) the 101. Doge of Venice: Vellum manuscript addressed to Michele Morosini e Griolamo Grimani, Podesta and Capitaneo of Verona, written and signed by the official secretary Nicolo Padavin. Although the official lead seal is missing, a fine early document with attached transcription on Cert. Bolaffi ( 2000). The reign of Cornaro as Doge was the shortest of any Doges. He was elected on 17 May 1656 and died only a few weeks later, on 5 June 1656.

    1915/18ca.: 'Medalillon' Proof set of five values in red as 1 Corone, 2 Corone, 10 Corone, 20 Corone and one without value tablet, printed on watermarked and gummed paper, perf. 14., showing the same medalillon 'Head of Italia with diadem' as on the contemporaneous 25 Lire banknote, but remained unissued. Enzo Diena states in his 1989 certifcate an intended usage for Red Cross Charity purposes in Terre Redente (Venezia Giulia), but to date there is no evidence though. A scarce and discussed set, presumably proposed for fiscal usage.
