    British Packet Agency 1862 (Oct 7): Entire letter from Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe to New York endorsed 'p. Mail via Havana' at top, franked by French Colonies General Issue 1859/65 Eagle 5 c. green on greenish and strip of three 40 c. orange, large margins all round, tied by dotted grill in black with 'Pointe a Pitre / Guadeloupe' cds below (Oct 8) in black. Transferred to the British Post Office, prepaid '1/-' in manuscript and struck with fine "♚ / PAID / AT / GUADELOUPE" handstamp in red with 'Steamship / 10' charge mark at right. Reverse with GUADELOUPE double arc cds in red (Oct 12) and 'St. Thomas' cds (Oct 14) in black. A rare and charming entire.rnrn
