1865: Entire letter from Santiago de Cuba to Paris endorsed 'p L'Impératrice Eugénie' at top, struck with Consular CUBA octagonal datestamp (March 24) in black (Salles fig. 1364) and by octagonal HAVANE / IMP. EUGENIE datestamp (March 25) in black (Salles fig. 1337 = 'pièce d'amateur'). Reverse with Paris arrival cds (April 16) and charged '8' décimes due in manuscript. British P.O.'s 1863 (Dec 2): Entire letter from Trinidad de Cuba to St. Thomas, prepaid '1/-' in red manuscript, struck on obverse with superb Crown "PAID AT HAVANA" handstamp in black. Reverse with oval blue 'Llopart, Verguety Ca. / Habana' Forwarding Agent's cachet in blue flanked by British P.O: double arc cds of Havana (Dec 7) and St. Thomas (Dec 15) each struck in black. US Occupation 1898/99: 5 c. on ½ m. blue-green, a used horizontal pair, left hand stamp with variety "Surcharge Omitted", right hand stamp type (g), position 1, tied to small piece by Puerto Principe cds (Jan 1, 1899) in black. Some minor peripheral aging but unique as such: the sole recorded example from the left side of the setting.
