1846: Entire letter from Bagaces to San José, datelined internally "Bags. 6 de Dbre. de 1846", struck with outstanding strike of the Bagaces "Tree" handstamp in black (Harris fig. 13). Very few examples recorded, all of the covers known emanate from a ranch belonging to Don José Maria Castro, former President of Costa Rica outside Bagaces and are used within 1846-1849 only.
