1843: 60 reis grey-black, Intermediate Impression, a fine horizontal pair with huge margins all round used on obverse of second sheet of 1845 entire letter from Rio de Janeiro, written in German to Theodor Wille in Santos, carried by sea at single rate and endorsed at top 'p. Ypiranga' in manuscript; the adhesives tied by crisp strike of CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE datestamp (Jan 24) in black. Illustrated in "Bulls Eyes on Covers" by Juchert / Maassen on page 135. 1938 (May 22): Cover carried on the ill-fated Flight from Rio de Janediro to Santos carried by the Seaplane 'Guaracy', which crashed into the sea after engine failure in bad weather killing one passenger. The cover with stamps floated off, shows yellow on green "Servico Postal / Correspondencia dilacerada" label tied at Porto Alegre and the front with two line ACCIDENTE / DE AVIÃO cachet in black.
