    1905: Imperforate Plate Proofs as the 1869 first issue of Postage Stamps but with hejira date altered to read 1323 instead of 1286, unissued, the selection of Plate Proofs in grey blue with corner block of eight on thin wove paper, imprint block of eight from top of sheet, a marginal pair from right of sheet and two horizontal pairs in deep bright blue printed on thick card paper. A scarce and attractive group.

(2) used on registered 4 c. red stationery card used on First Day of issue, 1943 8 c. on cover to Kedah with framed 'Contrary to Regulations / Sender's name and Address / not shown on cover', further 8 c. on cover from Kangsar, range of Penang covers with '2602' opt., Negri Sembilan and Perak covers and a few combination usages, reg'd cover with four Perak 8 c. red with '2602' opt. inverted, an interesting lot of seldom seen material.

    1846 (July 5): Entire letter written on board the British Brig 'Siren' off Malta to Carlskrona, Sweden by Swedish Officer serving with British Fleet (see contents), struck on reverse with fine oval CONSUL R. SVEC: ET NORV: MELITAE in black. Thence via Marseille (July 12) with entry marking in red, Hamburg Thurn & Taxis P.O. (July 17) and Stralsund with straight line handstamp in black. A fine and unusal entire that opens well for display.

Reverse with 'Mauritius / GPO' despatch cds (Oct 6) and front with red entry marking (Nov 7). Charged '24' décimes due on receipt in manuscript. A rare mixed issue usage. Signed Calves. Cert. E. An interesting, if somewhat untidy selection.

    1873 (Oct 9): Registered cover from Stawell to Graubunden, Switzerland franked by 1863/81 laureated 1 d. green (6 examples), 4 d. rose, 6 d. blue and 1873/87 Bell 2 d. violet tied by 'Stawell / 152' duplexes and by oval 'Registered' in black. Melbourne transit cds centrally placed on front panel (Oct 10) and 'Registered / London' transit in red on front (Dec 1). Reverse with Stawell cds, Zurich cds, Chur cds and Samaden arrival (Dec 4). An attractive cover at under ½ ounce rate of 8 d. + 10 d. registration. Some edge wear as to be expected from journey but a remarkable and scarce cover. Illustrated in colour in 'Pre-UPU Destination Mail' by Ben Palmer on page 30.
