    France 1854 (April 28): Stampless entire letter from Melbourne to Macon, France struck on despatch with PAID / MELBOURNE in red (Aug 30) and prepaid 1 shilling (being the Packet rate the UK), the entire was carried direct to Southampton by the General Screw Shipping Co. 'Croesus', and struck on arrival in London (Dec 15) with framed COLONIES / &c. ART 13 in red. Struck on arrival with '15' décimes due marking in black. Scarce cover with complete original contents, the writer was off to Castlemaine to prospect for gold.
