    1 d. red-brown on blued paper, imperforate, a fine example but just touched at lower left, used on second sheet of entire letter (paying Late Fee only) from London to Rome, Papal States tied by London numeral 2 obliterator in black. London cds (Oct 7) of despatch on reverse and front struck with 'TOO LATE / G.P.O.' in black, with Boulogne transit alongside. VIA DI MARE in red also on front and charged 66 baj. due in manuscript. A scarce and very early usage.
