    1 peseta brown, diagonally bisected and used on 1867 entire letter from Arica to Tacna cancelled by fine strike of ARICA datestamp (Oct 15) struck in blue, repeated strike alongside. One margin has been added since this cover was in the Van Oordt collection (1977). A late use of the bisect and very fine. Signed A. Diena.

    Note: Corinphila sale 84 (Oct 1992), lot 5672 shows a similar usage, mailed four days earlier, from the same correspondence, a further example, mailed on the day after the cover offered, was in Corinphila (Oct 1999), lot 2475.
