Santa Fé de Bogotá-La Plata-Popayan-Quito Route 1776 (Dec 3): Entire letter from Popayan to Quito, Ecuador, distance 108 leagues / 602 kms., struck with the contracted POPAYAN handstamp (Tizon 1 = EXT) with superb impression of the DEBE. marking alongside (Tizon 3 = RR), both in red. Manuscript "2" reales to pay for single letter under ½ ounce. Scarce and fine, the earliest recorded usage for both handstamps and one of the earliest Colombian handstamped covers recorded.
