    1858 (July 27): Mourning envelope from St. Helens to the University of Kiel, Holstein & Lower Saxony (sic), endorsed "via Belgium" at top and franked by 1855/57 4 d. rose on white paper (2) tied by "679" obliterators in black. Adhesives also struck with two line PART-PAID / MORE TO PAY handstamp in black and, at lower left, framed 'fr. Hbg.' handstamp (Van Der Linden fig. 1557) applied. Manuscript "6½" pence credit applied in error, charged 9 skilling due on arrival (= 2 silvergroschen). A scarce cover.
