    4 reales red, a fine example in a pale soft shade, used on refolded cover front to Guaranda in combination with1870/72 horizontal strip of three 1 real in a bright yellow shade, positions 66-68, with position 66 showing the major plate flaw "diagonal scratch from central circle to base" (an unusually fine impression for a late usage), all tied by neat "Ambato" datestamps (June 30) in black, with manuscript "14 oz." at left. A scarce and appealing piece.
